In Buenos Aires we had signed up to go see a Boca Juniors football game, which had huge amounts of warnings associated with it when we read about it ex. ¨Don´t cheer for the wrong team, it is a matter of life and death.¨ We made our way to the stadium with a bunch of other tourists. The entire area had been shut down around the stadium and the streets were dead, it was a little intimidating actually, but it all turned out to be pretty safe. I mean in the section we were in there was a family with all their kids ;) It was 35C in the stadium at points hitting 36C and so it was incredibly hot, the sun crept up as the day went on, and we were in the section where it was working its way up to us. You could tell when it reached you because all of a sudden your feet and then your hands were suddenly very very hot. Watching the game was a blast, the Boca supporters section was on the other side of the stadium and they were going crazy, and there are a whole series of songs about them being lepers (go look it up ;) and how much they hate their rivals River Plate (even though they weren´t even playing them.) Probably the worst part of the game was that we had to leave at half time to catch our bus to Iguazu, I don´t know if it is a terrible insult to leave the game early or what, but *nobody* would give way to us to let us walk up and out of the stadium, so we had to literally walk across people and push them out of the way. Not fun.
The bus ride itself was great. I don´t know if we were on a deluxe bus or what, but the seats recline completely, are huge, and very comfortable. There is great Air Conditioning and they provide blankets and food and show movies (Liam Neeson was terrible in Taken.) The 18 hours on the ride actually passed by very quickly.
In some news about my stolen bag. It turns out that some Australians had noticed it and handed it in to reception. That is where the good news stops. The bag is still gone. Paula had sent us an email to let us know that she had dug around for it and she theorizes that the bag, and her camera, were stolen by one of the staff members. To tell you the truth I think I would be relieved to hear that, because it would be sad to think that a fellow traveler had stolen my stuff.
Ok, I gotta go shower. I told Sean he smells like crap so that he´d shower before me and I could use the internet first. Yes, I know, I have strange priorities. Sorry Sean ;)
